About Otis

I’ve been deeply involved in understanding the issues that come before the Clermont City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission, regularly attending meetings for the last 4 years. I also currently serve on the South Lake Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee.

My journey in Clermont began in 2011, where I have dedicated myself to making a positive impact through various initiatives and volunteer work. Being a native of Chicago, I retired from a career spanning over 35 years in the automotive industry. My varied roles, range from operating my automotive repair shop to managerial positions in Chrysler dealerships, have equipped me with invaluable experience in problem-solving and personnel management.

In 2011, I proudly founded the Give A Day Foundation (GADF), driven by my passion for addressing community needs through volunteerism. Since then, I’ve mobilized volunteers to create positive change in Clermont and surrounding cities. My community involvement expanded further in 2019 when I joined the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, where I now serve as a welcoming Ambassador and Board Member. I’m deeply committed to fostering connections within the local business community and enhancing Clermont’s overall well-being.

My dedication to youth empowerment led me to establish the Champion Circle program in 2018, which inspires and uplifts young male teens. In 2020, I continued my collaborative efforts by founding the South Lake Non Profit Think Tank, showcasing my commitment to innovative solutions and collaboration in addressing local challenges.

My volunteer hours, totaling over 11,650 since 2011, are a testament to my tireless commitment to serving and bettering our wonderful Clermont community.

I am committed to addressing several key concerns that are important to our community.

Live Work Play

I envision communities where residents can seamlessly integrate their professional, personal, and recreational lives. My goal is to help create an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a high quality of life for all who reside in Clermont.

Here’s what Live Work Play communities will offer:

Residential Spaces: Modern, sustainable housing options designed to meet the diverse needs of residents.

Workspaces: Flexible work environments, co-working spaces, and home office setups, to accommodate remote work and entrepreneurship.

Recreational Facilities: Parks, fitness centers, and recreational areas to promote health, wellness, and social interaction.

Local Businesses: A vibrant mix of shops, cafes, restaurants, and services that cater to the needs and interests of community members.

Bringing these elements together in one cohesive community can create a place where people can live, work, and play without compromise.

Infrastructure, Public Transport and Community Safety

We understand the challenges and frustrations of commuting and navigating throughout our city. I support improving our roads and infrastructure and working with our county and surrounding cities to address this critical need. Creating and improving public transport within Lake County will also help.

Strong infrastructure is the backbone of a thriving community, supporting economic growth, connectivity, and quality of life. I support investing in projects that improve roadways, utilities, and public facilities.

Accessibility: Better public transport improves access to employment, healthcare services, educational institutions, and recreational facilities for all residents, regardless of their means of transportation.

Reduced Congestion & Environmental Benefits: By encouraging residents to use public transport, we can alleviate some of the traffic congestion on our roads. Promoting sustainability by reducing carbon emissions and dependence on private vehicles contributes to cleaner air and a healthier environment.

Community Safety: Ensuring our safety in Clermont is extremely important. We all want to feel safe and have access to help when needed. I support strengthening and equipping our police and fire departments.

Protecting Our Lakes

As residents of Clermont, we are fortunate to have beautiful lakes that enrich our lives in countless ways. These precious resources face growing threats from pollution, erosion, development, and climate change.

Here’s why protecting our lakes is crucial:

Ecosystem Health: Lakes are home to plant and animal species that depend on clean water for survival. Protecting our lakes helps preserve biodiversity and maintain the delicate balance of aquatic ecosystems.

Recreational Opportunities and Water Quality: Our lakes are destinations for boating, swimming, fishing, and other recreational activities. By safeguarding water quality, we can ensure that current and future generations can continue enjoying our beautiful lakes.

I believe we can make a positive difference and ensure our lakes remain vibrant and healthy for generations to come.

Caring for our Seniors and Investing in our Youth

I believe these are important areas of our community that deserve our attention and support.

Caring for Our Seniors: Our seniors have contributed to building our community and enriching our lives with their wisdom and experiences.

It is our responsibility to ensure that they are respected and valued in their golden years. Many seniors face challenges such as loneliness, health issues, and financial insecurity. By providing access to resources, healthcare, and social support services, we can enhance their quality of life. By fostering intergenerational connections and opportunities, we can create a stronger, more inclusive community for people of all ages.

Investing in Our Youth: Our youth are the future leaders and innovators of our community. By investing in their education, well-being, and development, we are nurturing individual growth and building a bright future. Quality education, mentorship, youth programs, scholarships, and vocational training equip our youth with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Empowering youth to become active participants and providing youth leadership platforms, civic engagement, and community service, will give them a sense of responsibility

We invite you to join us in our mission as we embark on this journey of growth and transformation. Our cause is driven by passion, commitment, and a vision for a better Clermont. By uniting our efforts, we can amplify our voices and actions. We believe we can create meaningful change and leave a lasting impact on the City of Clermont and surrounding Cities. We welcome fresh ideas and diverse perspectives.
